North Indian Hindu

A starting framework for families using a priest-led Hindu vivah. Confirm the regional and family tradition before using this sequence.

Read the ceremony guide

Marwari Hindu

For Marwari Hindu families. Marwari is not a single religious or ritual identity; Jain families should use their own officiant-approved rites.

Read the ceremony guide

Tamil Hindu

Tamil identity does not determine religion or a single ceremony. This section covers Hindu practice and separately marks Tamil Brahmin examples. Iyer, Iyengar, Saiva, Sri Lankan Tamil, and other community/family practices can differ.

Telugu Hindu

Andhra Pradesh and Telangana contain many communities and family traditions. Telugu-speaking Christian and Muslim weddings require their own religious guides.

Kannada / Kannadiga Hindu

Kannada-speaking families include Smartha, Madhwa, Sri Vaishnava, Vokkaliga, Lingayat/Veerashaiva and many other communities. Coastal Karnataka includes Tulu and Konkani traditions that should not be relabelled automatically as one Kannada ceremony.

Malayali / Kerala Hindu

Malayali is a language and cultural identity, not a religion or one wedding script. Nair, Ezhava, Namboothiri and other Hindu traditions differ. Christian denominations and Muslim nikah traditions require distinct guidance.

Read the ceremony guide

Gujarati Hindu

For Gujarati Hindu families. Gujarati Jain and other religious marriages need separate confirmation. The seven steps and fire rounds should not be conflated.

Read the ceremony guide

Bengali Hindu

For Bengali Hindu biye. Bangal, Ghoti, community and household practices vary. Bengali Muslim, Christian and other weddings need their own religious guides.

Read the ceremony guide

Bihari Hindu

A family-specific booking checklist for Bihar weddings. Maithili, Bhojpuri, Magahi and household practices differ; confirm ceremony requirements with your pandit.

Adapt the format

Add the details your celebration needs.

Intimate city wedding

For a smaller celebration in a city hall, restaurant, home or compact venue. Adapt the guest count and supplier scope to the space.

  • Choose the people you most want present and check the venue feels comfortable for that guest count.
  • Agree the ceremony and meal you want before adding extra functions.
  • Ask the venue about private dressing space, toilets, power and any home-event restrictions.

Destination wedding

For a wedding with travel, accommodation or celebrations across several days. Add this to the relevant tradition checklist.

  • Choose the destination together and check travel effort for your closest family and guests.
  • Confirm who is paying for travel, rooms and meals and explain this before guests book.
  • Count the rooms and nights you need, including sharing preferences and extra beds.

Mixed-tradition wedding

For families combining customs or hosting more than one religious ceremony. Each officiant confirms their own programme.

  • Talk together about the customs that matter to each of you and the traditions you are comfortable sharing.
  • Meet each officiant before fixing one combined schedule.
  • Keep religious, cultural and civil requirements distinct and confirm each with the appropriate person.
Make the numbers work

See your spending
before you commit.

Build a planning range with separate meal counts, editable supplier costs and a visible list of items still to price. Keep personal spending apart from the event.
